Cardale Jones

From 3rd string quarterback to the National Championship stage and the NFL, Cardale Jones’ career at The Ohio State University is one of the all-time great stories in college football.

After exploding on the scene late in the 2014 college football season, Cardale led the Buckeyes on a run like none other.

Beating the 13th ranked Wisconsin Badgers 59-0 in his first start in the BIG 10 Championship and earning MVP honors, Cardale led the Buckeyes to the first ever college football playoff against top-ranked Alabama. He shocked the world with a 42-35 win over the Crimson Tide and defeated Oregon 42-20 to claim the National Championship.

His stunning collegiate success earned Cardale an opportunity at football’s highest level. A 4th round draft pick with the Buffalo Bills, Cardale spent 2 seasons with the LA Chargers and a half season in the XFL with the DC Defenders before the pandemic forced the league to shut down.

Not content to let COVID put him on the sidelines, Cardale teamed-up with the “Buckeye Cruise For Cancer” and the James Hospital to create “The Cardale Jones Fund for Adolescent and Young Adults (AYA) Cancer Research”. Cardale’ softball game for AYA raises over $100,000 annually.

As Senate Bill 187 (NIL) was presented to Ohio lawmakers, Cardale was the most publicly vocal advocate for its passage. Allowing student athletes to capitalize on NIL was something Cardale couldn’t do when he was in college but knew it was an important opportunity for athletes who came after him.

As Chief Talent Officer, Cardale surrounds and protects Ohio student athletes as they form business relationships, setting the standard for professionalism, expertise, legal, and management of NIL opportunities.

David DeVillers is a partner at Barnes and Thornburg Law Firm, with an emphasis on white collar criminal, compliance, internal investigation and enforcement, and complex litigation matters.

Dave served as United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio from 2019 to 2021. As a career federal and county prosecutor, Dave oversaw the prosecutions of one of Ohio’s biggest corruption conspiracies and prosecuted offenses including terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, and murder.

As part of the Department of Justice, Dave was sent to Iraq as a prosecutor adviser to the Iraqi High Tribunal for the Kurdish Genocide trial of Saddam Hussein, and to investigate additional crimes against humanity perpetrated by the former Iraqi regime. He has spent a great deal of time overseas, specifically in Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Georgia, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine, where he was assigned as a legal adviser in combating crime and corruption.

Dave led numerous task forces in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and local police agencies.

Dave has been nationally recognized for his work and has been a regular teacher at the DOJ’s National Advocacy Center. He travels around the country to present case studies of his trials – including the largest federal murder case in Ohio’s history, charging 20 members of the Short North Posse, a known gang in Columbus.

Born in Queens, NY, Dave’s family moved around the country every two years. He found that playing sports, including football, baseball, and track, provided him with the opportunity to connect with each of his new schools and communities.

He moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend Capital Law School and has been a devoted Buckeye fan ever since. As Counsel to Ten Talents, Dave is dedicated to protecting the interests of the student athlete.
